HOUSTON--It was a 1-2 punch for the Houston Cougars offensively that sparked Houston to a second consecutive Bayou Bucket victory 35-14 over the Rice Owls at Reliant Stadium. Houston quarterback David Piland threw for 361 yards and two touchdowns and teammate running back Charles Sims rushed for 158 yards and a career high three touchdowns to lead the attack.
Houston (1-3) notches up its first win of the season and conference while Rice (1-4) drops is 0-2 in CUSA play.
